User Research

Competitive Analysis

Conducted SWOT and heuristic evaluations of competitor apps to identify usability gaps and opportunities for improvement.

Talking to potential users to uncover needs.

Building on competitor insights, I conducted interviews with prospective travelers to understand their goals and trip-planning challenges.

Hypothesis: Travelers seek curated experiences tailored to their interests and budget. They want to maximize opportunities without missing out.

Findings:

  • Desire for unique and “local” experiences
  • Need to find affordable attractions
  • Overwhelm from too many options
“Try to forget about the life back at home, going to a rural place helps achieve that because you’re not surrounded by tourists.”

Defining the MVP

Shaping the Cobble MVP Concept.

The MVP was designed to test whether users value niche filtering for travel planning, and to gather feedback for future iterations.

User Stories:

  • As a busy full-time employee, I want to explore a new culture and recharge.
  • As a traveler, I want to quickly find experiences aligned with my interests.
  • As someone with limited time and money, I want nearby attractions to explore on foot.

Success Metrics:

  • Quantitative: Accounts created, user traction, repeat visits, most-used filters.
  • Qualitative: Feedback via reviews and usability testing.
